1 -TDR-2 Pile Integrity Testing System

The Transient Dynamic Response method of assessing the integrity of piles has long been regarded as the best technique. The system measures both the input force to a pile as well as the resulting velocity response and this allows the pile shaft to be examined in both x and y directions ie depth and cross section.

The technique also means that data can be viewed in time domain and frequency domain, this is advantageous when interpreting the results. The TDR-2 system comprises two main elements, the data acquisition hardware and a sophisticated windows based software package, purpose designed for ease of interpretation and reporting.

The software, known as T-PAP (Testconsult Pile Analysis Programme) is used to transfer data from the TDR-2 to a pc, carry out basic analysis of results and produce reports. As an optional extra, simulation and impedance profiling packages are available for more detailed further analysis of more complex results and are powerful aids to correct data interpretation.

 2-TECO Pile Integrity Tester

The echo or seismic method of assessing the integrity of piles has been used since the 1970's to check the integrity of piled foundations. The system measures the velocity response of a pile to a force input generated by a small hammer. The system is rapid in operation and can be used to check the depth of both pre-cast and cast-in-situ piles. The possible causes of intermediate responses can also be assessed

The TECO system comprises two main elements, the data acquisition hardware and a sophisticated windows based software package, purpose designed for ease of interpretation and reporting. The software, known as TEAC (Testconsult Echo Analysis Programme) is used to transfer data from the TECO to a pc, carry out basic analysis of results and produce reports. A simulation module is also included for more detailed further analysis of more complex results and is a useful aid to correct data interpretation. The main advantages of the system are :

Rapid operation Low cost Reporting and interpretation software for quick analysis

5 - Automated Pile Static Load Testing System

The traditional method of carrying out a static load test is to hire a jack, load cell, hydraulic pump and a few dial gauge indicators, install on the pile and leave a foreman to apply and maintain the load manually sometimes non-stop over a period of over 24 hours. Under these circumstances, it is nigh on impossible to maintain the required load accurately with the additional danger of having to work directly under live loads whilst taking dial gauge readings. There is however, an alternative!

The Testconsult Equipment ' Automatic Static Load Testing System' is controlled by a portable computer which follows the load testing cycle you have chosen. The computer takes readings via a data logger of load and pile movement, and controls the applied load using an air/hydraulic load maintainer. All readings are taken remotely in complete safety and stored automatically.

BGCMap - CORROSION METER

The latest corrosion assessment tool from Testconsult is the BGCMap? system. It has been designed for the Electrical Power Industry and in particular for engineers responsible for the assessment and maintenance of steel transmission towers and poles. However, it is equally at home used on any steel structure such as lighting columns.

The system uses the Linear Polarisation Resistance (LPR) technique to determine the potential for corrosion and the rate of corrosion of steel components buried below ground. It provides a rapid way of assessing the potential life of steelwork, and can help develop effective maintenance schedules. The equipment and software is purpose designed to provide the following advantages:

? Fast and easy to use on site

? One man operation

? Robust, reliable equipment

? Accurate location using GPS technology

? User definable terms in software

? Transmission line terminology

? Data export to client database

 3-SC-XT2000 Sonic Coring System

The latest Sonic Coring system from Testconsult is the SC-XT2000. The system is designed for integrity testing large diameter concrete piles, diaphragm wall, barrettes etc, by the ultrasonic cross hole method. The equipment is purpose designed and includes a sophisticated tomography module. The equipment and software provides the following advantages:

Fast and easy to use on site

One man operation

Robust, reliable equipment

Accurate data collection

Rapid email report facility

Full data viewing and tomography software

Sonic Coring is a cross-hole test whereby ultra sonic transducers are used to measure the transit time of sound in concrete. The test is carried out on foundations where steel tubes have been installed during construction, normally to the full depth.

4 - SIMBAT? - Dynamic Pile Testing System

SIMBAT? is a dynamic pile test that allows the prediction of static load settlement behaviour of bored, cast-in-place and pre-cast driven piles. It also used for pile driving analysis and calculation of hammer efficiency. The prime advantages of dynamic load testing are speed and low cost. Typically, up to 10 piles per day can be tested and preliminary results available the same day. Testconsult have been offering a dynamic pile test service for many years using the SIMBAT? technique. This technique, acknowledged by many to be superior to other systems, is based on rigorous data collection and data processing techniques. We have recently incorporated some major improvements, upgraded the software and made the whole package very user friendly. The software and equipment is now available for sale. The system comprises the following main components:

Data collection unit, for capture of strain, acceleration and displacement

Site computer

Optical theodolite to measure dynamic displacement of pile

Accelerometers and strain gauges

Software for signal acquisition and data processing
